Utah’s scenic beauty and active lifestyle make it a perfect place for pickleball enthusiasts. Whether you’re interested in us creating a new court or refreshing an existing one, painting a pickleball court can enhance the play experience and the aesthetics of your space. It can take a few days to make sure your court is up to our standards. Here is a guide on what to expect from us.

1. Planning and Preparation

Choose the Right Location:

Pickleball courts are typically 20 feet wide and 44 feet long for doubles play. Make sure your chosen location has adequate space, preferably with a flat surface. Consider how the sun’s angle and shadows might affect play.

2. Surface Preparation

a. Cleaning the Surface:

We will thoroughly clean the court surface with a pressure washer or hose. Remove all debris, dirt, and any previous paint. Next we can use a concrete cleaner and degreaser to ensure a pristine surface if needed.

b. Repair Cracks and Holes:

We inspect the court for any cracks or holes and repair them with a concrete patching compound.

c. Etch the Surface:

If the surface is too smooth, we can etch it lightly with a concrete etching solution to help the paint adhere better.

3. Applying the Base Coat

a. Tape Off the Lines:

We use painter’s tape to outline the boundaries and the net lines of the court. This will help achieve clean, sharp lines.

b. Apply the Base Coat:

Next, we begin with the base coat. Typically, we’ll apply multiple coats of a solid color of your choosing like green or blue. Allow the base coat to dry completely between coats.

c. Ensure Proper Drying Time:

In Utah, the dry climate can speed up drying times, but we need to ensure the paint is completely dry before moving on to the next step. This is crucial for achieving a smooth and long-lasting finish.

4. Painting the Lines

a. Apply Line Paint:

Once the base coat is dry, we will tape and apply the line paint, applying it evenly and precisely along the taped edges.

b. Allow to Dry:

Let the line paint dry thoroughly before using the court. This prevents smudging and ensures a durable finish.

5. Finishing Touches

a. Inspect and Touch Up:

Last, we will check the court for any imperfections and touch up as needed. We want to make sure all lines are sharp and colors are consistent.

6. Enjoy Your Court

Now that your pickleball court is painted and ready, gather your friends and family for a game! Enjoy the satisfaction of having a well-maintained, visually appealing court that reflects your commitment to the sport and your community.

Painting a pickleball court is a great way to enhance your playing experience and add a touch of personal flair. With the right preparation and care, your court will provide countless hours of fun and competitive play in the beautiful Utah landscape.
